Hi Yann, I am writing to you regarding the deleted images titled ‘Argentine school created by Gemini’. As I explained in the request for undeletion, the images were created for illustrative and educational purposes, to discuss the way in which AI represents Argentine schools, as part of a campaign we are running at Wikimedia Argentina, with the aim of improving educational information on Wikidata (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Argentina/Actividades/Ninguna_escuela_sin_wikidata_2026). We need the images to be under a Creative Commons licence so that we can use them in materials for schools, which is why we published them on Wikimedia Commons. They are certainly not intended for personal use, and of course there are many real images of schools across the country that we will also be using as part of the campaign (we will even be encouraging more to be released), but we wanted to use these illustrations as part of the material. I explained this in my request; I really do not understand why it was not taken into consideration. As I need the images, I am going to republish them using my institutional user account. I am not the creator of the prompt used to generate the images, which is why I took the trouble to show the person who created them how to release them. I also explained Commons to them. After they were deleted, I followed the procedure to request their restoration, but this was refused. I have no choice but to publish them under my own name. @Florencia Guastavino (WMAR): Hi, As others, I don't understand the need to use AI for this purpose. I think, as many other people on Commons (and certainly elsewhere), that we should restrict the use of AI images to when they are really necessary. We should not use AI images when they can be replaced by real ones, which is the case here. Images like File:Escuela argentina creada por Gemini 3.png have a high risk to be misleading, and they should be avoided at all costs. Regards, Yann (talk) 22:50, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Merrie Melodies intertitles

Thanks for helping delete the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies title cards that were tagged with copyvio! However, it seems like File:I Like Mountain Music.png is still up, despite the film being a 1933 release and has its copyright renewed, so can that be deleted too? Go D. This is out of scope and violates local harassment policies. This was also a retaliatory upload made by the same user, on a talk page an admin says "if you search the whole internet you cannot find this flag existing." Tracking categories

Hi Yann. Could you take a look at File:Zabivaka Statue.jpg? A new account uploaded the file as first edit, but it seems unlikely that the uploader and the copyright holder are the same person. Even if they are, there doesn't seem to be any FOP in Russia for sculptures/statues. The membership list is much smaller now and based on a template. This allows us to easily create message lists and statistics. Please have a look at your entry in the list and update it if needed.

Sandbox deletion

Hi @Yann: I hope you are doing well. A few days ago you deleted my sandbox page citing

I understand the logic behind the deletion. But you just could have unmarked the page for translation -_- instead of deleting. I was testing somethings to see how things work and assumed userpages do not appear on the list (Sorry, I did not bother to check if they actually are), I was testing {{I18n link}} to include wikipedia links using wikidata in translatable pages, so the wikipedia links inside translatable pages auto updates for new languages. So, Is there any sandbox page to play around for stuff like this.

On a side note, I sometimes patrol the abuse filter log. I recently noticed that AI-generated unused files can now be speedily deleted under criterion F10. However, the abuse log shows new uploads, and users might need some time to place their files in a project. How long should I wait before concluding that a file will remain unused?
